Product Trainee

Investment20/20 Trainee Programme:

While you may not have an in-depth understanding of the investment management industry, our programme will introduce you to this very worthwhile and exciting industry and the variety of work and opportunities it has to offer.

The candidate will gain industry knowledge and experience and develop relationships that will enable you to progress your career. As a trainee at Alcentra, you will be part of the wider Investment20/20 trainee community across the industry. You will be invited to training and social events, organised by Investment20/20, to have a chance to network with over 300 other trainees in the same position as you.

Job Purpose:

The Product Intern will be located in London and will report to the co-Heads of Product Management. The Product Management team perform numerous and differentiated roles, liaising between Alcentra’s investment teams, sales teams and external clients. Tasks undertaken by the Product Management team that the successful candidate may assist with include:

  • Updating presentations in an accurate and timely manner from a variety of market and strategy data sources to be used for existing client performance updates and marketing opportunities to prospective clients.
  • Contributing to the production of monthly and quarterly performance reports to our existing clients by providing commentary on market performance and strategy performance, as well as performance attribution analysis.
  • Providing market analysis and peer analysis (including both supporting data and commentary) to support the efforts of our sales team at Alcentra and the wider Franklin Templeton sales resources.

The above tasks are chiefly performed in relation to Alcentra’s investment strategies which include Senior Secured Loans, Private Credit (Direct Lending), Structured Credit and Special Situations (Stressed and Distressed Debt). Essential

  • You must have the right to work in the UK by the start of your employment
  • This role is for graduates only
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • Excellent written skills
  • Interest in financial markets and investment management
  • Attention to detail (e.g. updating data points in presentations without errors)
  • Initiative, including a logical approach to problem solving.
  • An ability to work relatively independently where required and meet multiple and tight deadlines.
  • A great work-ethic and professional manner of communication (the role will include communicating with data providers, internal sales teams, and clients).
